Real stories.
Real movement.
Meaningful change.
These case studies show how Human Symmetry works with both individuals and organisations — starting with the person, the challenge and what needs to keep working in real life.
Keeping a remote team moving through an intensive project.
Illustrative recreation of a virtual workplace movement session.
Spending long hours behind their desks during a demanding course migration project was physically and mentally exhausting for the Eiffel Corp team.
They brought Darryl in to help them stay mobile, step away from their screens and look after their wellbeing while the project was underway.
Long hours. High demands.
The team was spending extended periods working independently behind screens during an intensive course migration project. The demands were taking a physical and mental toll.
A practical way to pause and move.
The team wanted something that could fit around the project, help people move during the working day and create a genuine opportunity to step away from their screens.
Weekly movement, together.
Darryl joined the remote team on Microsoft Teams each week, guiding them through simple, practical desk exercises, stretches and movement they could use around their working day.
The impact continued afterwards.
The techniques stayed with the team after the project ended. Several members continued using what Darryl had taught them as part of their daily routines.
Movement became a point of connection.
The sessions quickly became something the team genuinely looked forward to. With cameras on, they had a reason to move together, have a laugh and reconnect in a remote environment where much of their time was otherwise spent working independently behind screens.
Simple movement and stretching gave people an opportunity to release some of the tension that came with long hours of desk-based work.
The weekly sessions created a regular moment for the remote team to move, connect and spend time together away from project pressure.
Several team members continued using the exercises and techniques Darryl had taught them as part of their daily routines after the project finished.
Darryl brought energy, encouragement and a genuine focus on our wellbeing to every session. He reminded us that looking after ourselves and connecting with one another is just as important as getting the work done. His sessions made a lasting difference to our wellbeing and team spirit, both during the project and long afterwards.
Different bodies.
Different starting points.
Age, work, injury history, confidence and what someone wants to keep doing all influence how they move. These stories show why Human Symmetry starts with the individual rather than assuming everybody needs the same thing.
From struggling with basic movement to greater strength and mobility.
Luciano came to Darryl with significant pain, reduced mobility and difficulty walking independently. The immediate priority was to help him find greater stability and confidence in his most fundamental movements.
- Spinal discs thinning
- Loss of hip mobility
- Neck and back pain
- Loss of balance and difficulty walking without help
- Scoliosis
- Foot neuropathy
Stability had to come first.
Luciano needed to be walked arm-in-arm with his wife and daughter and struggled to get up or even lie down. His pain was consistently around 9/10, and standing and walking had become extremely difficult and unstable.
Rebuild movement from the ground up.
Darryl began with static realignment of Luciano’s pelvis in a lying position before progressing to standing, walking mechanics, squats, step routines, spinal stretching and exercises designed to reconnect upper- and lower-body movement.
Walking, moving and even running again.
After six weeks of intensive training, Luciano experienced significant improvements in his walking and mobility. He even sent Darryl a video of himself briefly running along the beach promenade and continued managing his movement with exercise at home.
Working with Darryl during my South African holiday was a pleasure. In just two weeks, his custom training routine showed positive results. At 80, I was nervous about starting a fitness regimen, but Darryl made it easy and enjoyable. He’s patient, encouraging, and mindful of my limitations, resulting in remarkable improvements in my strength and mobility. Highly recommended!
From recurring niggles to stronger, more confident movement.
Long hours at a desk, frequent travel and old injuries were affecting Simon’s mobility and confidence. He wanted to move better, run more comfortably and stop the same problems repeatedly getting in the way.
- Loss of mobility from desk work
- Knee and shoulder pain
- Weight-loss goal
- Wanted to run better
- Shin splints
- Pain in the big toe
Work and old injuries kept getting in the way.
Simon’s long hours at a desk and frequent travel meant exercise had become sporadic. Traditional training was not delivering the results he wanted, while old injuries and recurring discomfort were reducing his confidence in certain movements.
Build confidence before adding intensity.
Darryl began with balancing stretches and posture-focused exercises before progressing into more dynamic work. The programme then developed leg function, knee movement, gait mechanics and shoulder function.
Stronger, fitter and running again.
Simon went on to train weekly with Darryl by video call, completing long hikes and medium-distance runs without the regular knee, shin or toe pain that had previously affected him. He became stronger, more flexible and more confident in his movement.
Working with Darryl is brilliant. He makes the ‘pain’ of working out fun! Yes, fun! I’m stronger, more flexible and fitter since I have been working with him.
From fear of falling to hiking and dancing again.
Pauline was living with pain across several areas of her body, struggling to walk comfortably and becoming increasingly fearful of movement and falling. Her goal was not simply to exercise — it was to regain confidence in what her body could do.
- Two knee replacements
- Stuck and collapsing upper spine
- Mid-foot fusion
- Struggling to walk
- Hip stabilisers switched off
- Fear of falling
- Unable to work in the garden without pain
Pain had begun to narrow her life.
Pauline was struggling with multiple areas of pain and had become fearful of movement after years of dysfunction. Her upper and lower body were not integrating well, walking had become difficult and she was increasingly worried about falling.
Start gently. Then reconnect the whole body.
Darryl began with gentle localised exercises to test and improve symmetry. The work progressed through hip function, tight and fatigued areas of the upper spine, dynamic testing, whole-body mobility and gait-like movement.
Movement became part of life again.
Pauline began standing more upright, walking more naturally and moving with significantly more confidence. She returned to hiking in the mountains, started Scottish dancing and created her own training area at home.
Walking became more natural and Pauline returned to regular mountain hikes.
Improved balance and movement confidence helped Pauline return to Scottish dancing.
Pauline’s reports documented a 7% increase in bone density during the period covered by her case study.
I went from constant pain and fear of falling to moving freely and standing taller. Now I’m hiking and dancing with confidence again — thank you Darryl, it’s been truly life-changing.
